Collage Work: Post 001

December 30, 2009

I am going to start posting my latest projects. Most recently, I have been staying up late working on collage pieces. Here are a few examples. Enjoy!

Illustrator Spotlight: Andrew Bannecker

December 29, 2009

I’ve been admiring Andrew Bannecker instead of being productive today. He has done some amazing work for some amazing clients. I don’t think you can climb much higher when you have Coca-Cola, Starbucks and McDonald’s hiring you for your illustrations. I’m particularly digging this Coca-Cola campaign for Hopenhagen.

The Worst Hotel in the World

December 29, 2009

The LA Times posted a great article on the Hans Brinker Budget Hotel. On May 1st, 2009 I had the pleasure of helping with Swipe’s Worst Event in the World, a book release for Erik Kessels “The Worst Hotel in the World”. Erik Kessels, the designer of the Hans Brinker Hotel campaign, did a presentation of his work followed by a book signing. (We had 200 McDonald’s cheeseburgers for the folks who cared to join us – making it the worst or best event ever depending on how much you enjoy cheeseburgers.) The first two shots are from the event. I’m trying to dig up some of the posters I made for it.

Anyways, the campaign is brilliant. Erik took the hotel’s worst qualities and over exadurated them in the campaign (see below for examples). It was a huge success and some people even sign the guest book with disappointment. Read the LA Times article and check out the KesselsKramer site.

Alex Cornell: Rebranding Playboy

December 22, 2009

Alex Cornell, a frequent blogger at the ISO50 blog recently posted his school project which focused on the rebranding of Playboy. On top of redesigning the logo, the end result came bundled in a beautifully put together book that goes over the entire process of the rebrand. See the full article.

Design Studio: Invisible Creative

December 21, 2009

If you’re like me, you’ve seen their work everywhere but never knew who made it. Well, Invisible Creative has done a lot of great work for clients such as Target and Nike, bands like the Foo Fighters and Wolfmother and they even illustrated Grainedit’s new t-shirt! They have a great portfolio and a nice site on top of that. Visit their site.

Robert Hanson – new “Counter-Print” poster for sale!

December 21, 2009

I know, Robert Hanson again? So soon? Well, I found this limited edition poster which is a “collaboration between the German illustrator Robert Hanson and New Creative.” It is selling for £20.00 which I feel is really great. If I wasn’t taking a trip to Vancouver next week I’d be buying one for sure. Buy one for yourself.

Old Logo -> New Logo

December 21, 2009

The old logo has a stronger focus on my name whereas the new logo pays closer attention to the studio and its vision of growth. The new logo still hides a “t” and an “e” but isn’t so obvious. I may still use the old logo for personal work outside the studio.  My new business card mock-up is finished as well – it is being printed this week along with promotional posters which I’ll post soon.
